Program HISTORY

The program was established in 1999 under the umbrella of the United States Olympic Education Center (USOEC), then later renamed to the National Training Site (NTS) in 2020. A key figure in the organization of the program was Steve Fraser, who was the first American wrestler to ever win an Olympic medal (a gold medal at that!) in Greco-Roman at the 1984 Olympics and later served as USA Wrestling's national Greco-Roman head coach. Head coach Gordy Morgan, a 1996 Olympian, initially led the program, which included only eight athletes. Over the program’s 27-year history, it has been led by five head coaches—Morgan, Ivan Ivanov, Dennis Hall, Rob Hermann, and Andy Bisek—and has become part of the bedrock of American Greco-Roman development training dozens of athletes annually.
